Look Alikes
Well, personally I think Herb's really one of a kind. However, as my amusment in the world of anime continues, I can't help but notice a few character parallels. So, here they are- "those-who-are-not-but-kinda-are-like-the-dragon-prince."
Sesshoumaru
I've actually had a few people point this compairison out to
me, and I must completely agree. Sesshoumaru is the Herb of Inuyasha-
sporting both Herb's mix of cool collectivness and fire-hot temper in
personality. Both characters are very regal- each has been born from a
nobal bloodline, and both have no problems flaunting this fact. In
attack style, each fights for "real" and aren't afraid of going all
out. They are both claim to be out for the kill in fights, although
only Sesshoumaru has actually been noted to have killed previously. In
appearence, these two also share similarities- while Sesshou is taller,
and Herb much more broad-chested, his muscles more defined, they both
have thicker lashes and slitted eyes, along with pointed ears and long
flowing white hair (well mostly in Herb's case), and a slightly similar
style of bangs. Oh, and least it be forgotten, these two are both the
product of one Rumiko Takahashi, with Inuyasha being the following
series to Ranma 1/2- it's not entirly unplausible that Rumiko was
considering a Herb-like character when she created Inuyasha's half
brother ^_^.
Inuyasha no Chichi
Yes, another Inuyasha reference, but I couldn't
resist. If you though Sesshoumaru bore a resemblance to Herb, than take
a look at the third movie and check out the Dad! Although not a Rumiko
original design for the character (he appears this way only in the
animated film, with few glimses of his full face) the resemblance is
uncanny! What say? Is Herb some
long-lost decendant or what?
Vegeta
I've said it once, and I'll say it before- Herb is the most DBZ character of all Ranma 1/2, and of all the DBZ caste, Vegeta seems like a pretty close match. I mean- look at these two! Okay, not physically; although each has hardened muscles, and deep eyebrows, Vegeta and Herb don't really look much alike- Herb is much more of a pretty boy, while Vegeta's libel to kick heads for the suggestion. However, there are other notible similarities between the characters- both have similar fighting styles, with a heavy preferance for ki-based attacks. Both Vegeta and Herb are very willfull characters, who train so that they can become supream in their arts. They are both Princes, and thus both tend to see themselves in slightly higher esteem then everyone else. Finally- Herb, Vegeta- add in Radditz and Kakkarot, and the names kinda fit, y'know?
