Why Herb? Why not? For an incredibly powerful, incredibly devious dragon prince, fan wise there really isn't all that much out there on poor Herb. Before I flipped through D.B Summer's Shampoo 1/2, I had never heard of the character, and even then assumed he was part of D.B's own fictional mind because most sites never so much as *mentioned* this poor guy! It wasn't until I really entered in the Ranma 1/2 fandom that I caught onto a few more comprehensive sites that listed him and his followers. Overall however, Herb clearly needs a better P.R rep. And hey, let's face it, to me at least, Herb is a pretty darn interesting character. Not only is he a powerful, dragon-blooded,intelligent, unbelievably handsome prince, but he's also got something crucial when looking at the series- a Nyanniichuan curse. While Jusenkyo is hardly uncommon, Herb's case is exceptional for the series; he shares that very curse which started it all. Here he is, the anti-Ranma; Ranma's equal and opposite in many ways. Herb and Ranma are connected by their curse- the only two known characters in the series to share the same water-changed form. For a known villain lover such as myself, Herb's a dream come true. He's that ruthless badboy who's more then confident that his superior skills will get him whatever he wants out of life, and he'll prove it to any who doubt. Yet behind that rough and arrogant exterior lies a man who's worth respect, who looks out for those under his care and is willing to fight fair even when the rest of the world is willing to do otherwise. A natural aura of nobility, and a true dragon to the very end.
